Marble Solitaire is a calm, classic peg puzzle. Jump one peg over an adjacent peg into an empty hole to remove the jumped peg, and keep going until no legal moves remain. The goal is to finish with as few pegs as possible — a single remaining peg is a perfect game. There is no timer and no luck involved at all, which makes a messy finish entirely your own doing and a clean one genuinely satisfying.
How to play Marble Solitaire
- A peg can jump over an adjacent peg into an empty hole.
- The jumped-over peg is removed from the board.
- Keep jumping until no moves remain.
- Fewer pegs left is better — one peg is a perfect game.
Tips & strategy
- Work toward the centre; pegs stranded in corners are the hardest to remove.
- Think two or three jumps ahead so you don’t isolate a peg with no partner.
- Clearing in chains from the outside inward tends to leave the fewest stragglers.
- Before each jump, check whether it leaves any peg with no neighbour at all. A peg with nothing adjacent can never be removed, and one stranded peg is usually the gap between a good board and a perfect one.
